I figured I would ask a general question regarding a bunch of bearings that I have, but do not want to keep. Is there anyone looking for bearings, either for machine repair and restoration or personal projects?

I have a bunch that came along with my house when I bought it. They are SKF, Timken, Fafnir, Torrington, Bearings Inc., Andrews, New Departure, and others.

I have no need for them myself, but would hate to send them to the scrapyard if others would be able to put them to good use. Figured I would ask before I take photos and post them.

I'm not sure what all of them are (alot are still sealed in the boxes) and don't have time to search down the particulars of each one as far as single or double row, seals, etc. Plus, I don't have catalogs/handbooks from all of the manufacturers (and the ones that I do, I can't get to - still packed and can't find easily).

Let me know your thoughts or if there is one that you are looking for (give me the maker & the number, ie Andrews EW-5/8).

Mark, I feel your pain. I have kind of the same situation. Box full of new bearings and also a dozen or so air actuators. I did take the time to go through them and write down all of the numbers though. I have been buying a lot of bearings for my projects lately because none of the ones I have will work.

You should start a bearing exchange program on the 'net. To get a bearing you have to give a bearing! -Mike

If you're looking to get rid of them all cheap, I could give them a good home here with the rest of the bearings in inventory...

Or maybe ebay them all as a lot, it would be a real shame to scrap them if they are all new.

I am look for 6 bearing for some saw glides. For a sawmill that I am making. Thinking something like a outside dia. of 1" by 1/2 or thicker. I haven't made any parts yet, so can go a lot of differnt ways
Let me know

OK - it seems that I opened a basket of snakes here...not that it's a bad thing.

What I will do to try to be fair is I will give my camera a workout and photograph all of these critters. For those who are requesting certain sizes or types, I will send the info to you directly. If you want them, the photo will removed from the set.

After that, I will post as a lot with my desired price (I will try to be reasonable overall, some of these things I can't get a good read on the construction due to lack of catalog info).

Shipping will be by the cheapest means possible based on the weight (I kind of like the new Priority Mail Flat Rate anywhere box - you can fit alot of steel in them things )

Local pick up is also an option for those in or around PA or MD.

Mark, how many do you have in total? Some fellows, myself included, might be interested in buying the whole lot. Would help greatly to get some p/n's so we can look up ourselves, or pics for guys who just need a ballpark size random bearing.

I wanted to see if I could copy and paste the list of bearings I put in Excel. I guess it works although it loses something in the formatting. -Mike
