I wanted a 3.5 Kurt tool room vise for my trunnion, they were out of stock at the time. I bought a 2.5" Kurt Sidewinder(this was before the 3.5" model came out),sawed the casting and machined mounts for my sub-plate.
You can find them on ebay, it's just that prices can get stupid because they are out of production.
One just sold for $420. There's one on there for $300 or best offer, and the shipping is reasonable. Some will charge $40 for shipping, but it will fit in a medium FRB'
You'd think with prices like that, Kurt would bring the 3" back into production, but they just stopped production of the 4" vise, so expect those prices to go up as well.
I think your choices are:
Pay up
Wait for a deal (took me several years)
Hope for a deal from a PM member.

I have a 3" kurt I would sell. I wasn't really thinking about selling it but I don't use it much. I cleaned it and repainted it when I purchased it. I would say it is in very nice condition. You can PM me your email address if interested and I will send some pictures.
