Monarchist has got the indicator.

I scanned the copy of the 81 piece AS-2 ceramic cert because I have found that these AS-2 sets inspect much better than their grading suggests:

A quick look through the data and it seems like most of the blocks would meet Grade 0 with only a few falling into AS-1 tolerances. They don't sort all their "bad" blocks into these sets. The ceramics are really nice if you are working with abrasives or water based coolant.

With a lot of graded items there is significant sorting that occurs. In a batch of 5% tolerance electrical resistors you can almost guarantee you won't find ones better than 1%.
