Yes, Emco in Austria made the Unimats and Compact 5, all small hobby machines. Emco also made a Compact 8, a larger hobby machine, and they were made in China as the Emco Compact 8E after Emco stopped making them in Austria. The Taiwanese and Chinese also made their own versions of the Compact 8, with some attempts at improvement, and some quality problems. All of the previous machines are forbidden from PM.
Emco also made the Maximats, which were high end hobby machines, but also used in industry. I saw a Maximat in the testing lab of a local steel mill, used to make tensile specimens. There was also a Maximat in the maintenance shop of a local hospital and another in the experimental shop of a local major military electronics maker. They were nice lathes, except for the ones with plastic tumbler gears.
