OK, I know we all talk about three phase and converters, VFD's and such, but does anyone know who came up with the theory of three phase alternating current, and what that person was responsible for designing near a very popular tourist attraction ? Let's see how much everyone really knows about A.C.

I assume you're referring to Nikola Tesla, but I don't recall the "attraction"

D'oh ! I didn't read carefully...I thought you meant he designed the attraction itself. Ok, now I get it...but ain't tellin !

Well, Westinghouse got one of the original contracts for the Niagara Falls hydroelectric power plants. Maybe Tesla was involved with it, I don't know.

They always had overheating problems with those generators though, according to William Emmet's autobiography.
He worked for GE and eventually was involved with design of additional / replacement units.
