I am helping a friend hook up a mep condor 90 hr high speed cutoff machine
and it is rated at 2.2kw 230 volt 50 hertz.( Italian made). We have either 480 or 208 3 phaze available at 60 hertz.I can't find anything in the manual about running at 60 hertz. has anyone run into this before?
Thanks Joe

I have bought some 400V 50HZ 3 phase motors, for use on 480 V 60Hz.
The supplier just sendt some new data plates, change them youselves.

Works well! runs 20% faster.

Works great...

but it's moving a little faster, so if you get tangled up in it... it just Hz a little more...

(sorry, I couldn't resist)

Thanks for the responses everyone,I just don't want to hurt the machine long term. The easiest available voltage is 208 3 ph. 60 cycle, since the machine rating is a slightly higher voltage 230 3h 50 cycle I realize the machine will rin a bit faster on 60 cycles but what effect will a somewhat lower voltage have if any?I could boost the voltage with a transformer or two but perhaps i don't need to do anything.Since foreign machines are markedted in the us I thought for sure someone has run into this before.

You'd be better off on a higher voltage, 230/50Hz is like 275V/60Hz (doesn't exist, I know).

Running on 208/60 Hz is like running the 230 motor at 175V/50hz. There is the basic lower voltage, then also the reduction in current from the frequency difference. You may get excess heating as you try to get more power out, due to higher currents.

if it is a delta motor for the 230V/50hz, it could run at the 480V if rewired star, at 60 hz.

230 x 1.73 = 398V (the delta-star conversion) , and 398V x 6/5 = 477V (the 60Fz vs 50 hz conversion)
