Clausing 5914 VFD conversion?

I Have a Clausing 5914 that needs a little attention on the mechanical Variable speed drive and I figured I would possible consider a VFD swap rather than dealing with current and possible future variable speed issues on this lathe. I already have a motor which is a Marathon Black Max 2hp (vector duty) motor and a Danfoss VFD which I had purchased for a Milling machine but that project may or may not happen any time soon. What would the pros and cons be with going from the Mechanical Variable speed to a VDF? As I understand this motor has 100% torque down to 0 RPM and it is a 3600 RPM motor but after 60 hz the torque rating starts to fall off. I think this is typical for this type motor but overall is more desirable than a standard 3ph motor for such duties. Anyhow any comments are welcome. The only thing I would like to keep on the lathe is the clutch/brake setup so it would just be a simple pulley swap to standard V belt pulleys rather than the CVT variable speed style.

Thanks
Mike
