    You are correct. One of the windings should be reversed. The idea is to have in effect a winding with an operating voltage equal to the sum of the generator voltages, like a 240 V winding with the output taken from the center tap, (assuming 120 V generators). The currents are in opposite directions as far as the winding is concerned so one augments the other.
