I've got a Reco bearing heater here missing its crossbar. Not so good photos show them with crossbars made of what looks like laminated steel as used in transformers. Presumably there is a difference in performance, but what would be the net effect if any of using solid steel rather than laminated bar and if there is a difference why?

You might be able to use the straight laminated bar from the top of a line/ load reactor if you cant find anything suitable. What are the dimentions ?

They are made from laminated iron sheets. Laminating the bar increase the resistance and reduces eddy current which will make the cross bar get hot instead of the bearing.

Basically, a laminated bar is more efficient at heating the bearing instead of itself.

I made mine from an old transformer core. You can buy them from Zoro. They are pricey.

I need 2 each 9" long 2x2 and 3/4 x 3/4; happy to pay you for the trouble if you have some material, let me know or PM me
thanks
Tom
