Hi Everyone

The Power Distribution Block in my 40 HP Panel seems kind of tight with the #2 AWG wire and having to add the wire going to the machine. Am I doing something wrong?

I replaced the Incoming contactor with the new one from WNY Supply and ran the wire to the breaker panel. Ready to run wire from Distribution Block to motor and wow - seems kind of tight for getting #8 or #6 wire into the same hole with the #2 AWG

What is the right size conduit for 3 -#2 AWG runs to motor (which is outside).

What size wire for a 40 AMP load on the CNC (#8 or #6)

Is the Marathon Cat# 1423572 Power Distribution Block the right size or should I go with a different one. http://www.marathonsp.com/MSP Catalog/2006 Catalog pdfs/FULL CATALOG.pdf

The wire size depends on distance.

Your CNC wire size depends on the distance from the pannel. If it's under 50', I'm SURE 8ga will work. CNCs have some TIGHT voltage drop constraints, so any farther than 50', depending on the voltage drop the CNC specifies, and the local codes, you may have to go 6. Here's a calculator, 3% is code in some places. 8ga is good for under 3% voltage drop @ up to 100' with single or 3 phase AC and 40 amps. Unless your local codes require under 3% voltage drop, or the CNC does, you'll be fine with 8ga. As for your conduit problems, I can't offer any assistance.
