Sola Hevi Duty Power Supplies Problems

In the past we have used several Sola Hevi Duty 480V 3ph to 24 VDC power supplies. I have been having problems with these supplies failing in the field. We've had three 40 A supplies fail, and one 20 A supply. The first failure was 5 years ago, and then we have had the rest occur all under a year. Sola Hevi Duty claimed to fix the problem 5 years ago, and they are saying the same thing now. Now we are looking at some other options for our DC supplies. Does anybody else have a similar experience? Any suggestions on other power supplies? We are now looking at Carlo Gavazzi and Puls. I've heard that Allen-Bradley power supplies are actually Sola products rebranded. Is that true?

Gavazzi has always seemed to be the cheap stuff, at higher prices. Maybe that's wrong.

Have used Eaton PSG series and had no problems. But they DO look suspiciously like the Sola.

A-B was brand labeling Sola for a long time, but Sola changed to themselves brand labeling from a Chinese supplier called Chint and the quality went way down, so rather than using the Chint crap, AB changed to having their own designs made for them by Puls about 4 years ago. A-B has some needs that are specific to some of their products so they are not 100% the same as what Puls sells under their own name, but they are built in the same factory. The same is true for Siemens Sitop power supplies and Phoenix Contact; all made by Puls, but to different specifications.

So Sola now = Chint, who also brand labels to Idec, Eaton, Schneider, Carlo Gavazzi and maybe a dozen other low-end brand names.

So Carlo Gavazzi should be out of consideration too. Do you know who makes ABB & Weidmuller power supplies?

We use Puls and have had good performance . . . We also use the Sitop units from Siemens (customer spec by a big airplane manufacturer) also with good performance.

My experience with the Eaton is from around 2009 or so perhaps before the switchover. Not relevant to current product, therefore.
