I recently acquired a Clausing 1301 lathe that has this 200v motor.
I would like to use one of the HuanYang VFD's but not sure on size selection and what to look for in the specs for these chinese units?
I am thinking just to buy the 10hp VFD because the 7.5 and 10 are so close in price.
I do not want to go the RPC route because of the 200v issues.
I have normal 240v single phase in garage.
This is the unit I am looking at:
Top 22V 7 5KW 1HP 34A VFD Variable Frequency Drive Inverter CE Quality | eBay

Otherwise go this route 1 Hp Hitachi Three Phase VFD 2-23vac Input/Output It really is a 10 HP unit.....

Of equal importance, the maker, not a hobbyist, publishes this:

http://www.hitachi-america.us/suppo.../AN032404-1_Rev_A_Sizing_for_Single-Phase.pdf

And the price 'umbrella' opens the option to several OTHER built-for-single-phase 5 HP or thereabouts units as well.

RPC's are still damned handy to have under-roof.

For one thing, they are seriously hard to damage and waaay cheaper to fix if cobbled when setting up a newly acquired machine-tool of highly uncertain electrical condition.

I'm more careful with my costlier VFD and Phase-Perfect.
