I'm looking at buying a Monarch 10EE lathe that's had the original WIaD replaced with an Allen Bradley 1395 DC drive which requires 480v 3phase. I believe it contains the original 5 HP DC motor. I can come up with a 10hp rotary coverter to develop the 230/3. We have a 480 to 230 x 45 kVA transformer at work I can use to get the 480/3. Is this a viable solution? How sensitive will the AB drive be to the inhearent voltage imbalance coming out of the RPC? Any other thoughts/ideas on powering this machine are more than welcome.
