    Default Power Problems

I built a 20hp rotary Phase converter for my Fanuc Robodrill.
Its balanced pretty good at about 245-249v between the lines (measured with my cheap multimeter). The incoming house line reads 245v.
When I turn on the Robodrill, the screen goes crazy and flashes like it's in an electrical storm or something.
I'm trying to figure out what's wrong.
Is there something wrong with the rpc? Is the line voltage too high (the transformer in the Robodrill has inputs for 200v, 220v, and 230v).,
or might the incoming wiring be wrong?
I really need some help with this problem. Thanks.

    Henry L,

I don't know what is wrong with your machine! I had the same phenomenon happen on a German optimizer saw although there was no RPC involved. The CRT, or display should be immune from most interference as most connections with the outside world are done through optical couplers and relays. This German rig I repaired functioned, but had a bad optical relay and was passing noise every time a solenoid cycled.

The problem manifested itself as 'crazy flashes across the screen'! Just a thought.

Check all the grounding and bonding of non current carrying components.

be sure to check that the electronics for the screen are connected to line voltage only and not the generated or "wild"leg.
