Power a VFD from shared circuit?

Is it okay to power a VFD from a 220 single-phase circuit that has other machines on it? Only one of the machines would ever be running at a given time. In my shop I have two bandsaws and a drill press on the same 20 amp circuit and breaker, but there is only one me so there is only ever one machine running. Could, say, the drill press be driven by a VFD that is powered from this shared circuit? In this scenario the VFD might be left on and the drill press left off, while I use one of the bandsaws. Could this somehow damage the VFD?

no problem!

Hi Tony!

No problem whatsoever- that's like having a toaster, TV, and vacuum cleaner on the same 120v/20A circuit. As long as you're not running 'em all at the same time, it'll be just fine.

FWIW- I have two 240v/20A receptacles in my workshop- one by the radial drill, other by the Bridgeport, both on same breaker.
