RPC and Magnetic Brake Problem

Anybody out there ever experiance a problem with a 3 phase magnetic motor brake running on a RPC ? The brake has always chattered a little on engagement but today it took out a capaciter in the RPC. It's a 5 HP converter running a 1.5 HP motor with Mag brake. Is the brake just to much of a load on the RPC ?

likely a bad connection.

The RPC must be putting out since the motor runs.

I can't imagine a "3 phase" magnet coil on a 1.5 hp application, but count the wires.

Ohm the leads to the brake to make sure you don't have a dead short or high resistance somewhere.

Round up All the ususal suspects. ;-))

Switch your poles at the machine. Sounds like you're getting half of the generated leg and half line and it's not strong enough to actuate the coil after going through the control transformer.

My bad. It's a 3 HP 3 phase Reuland motor with a 3 phase Mag brake. And no, the RPG is no longer putting out 3 pase power. I guess I didn't make myself clear on that.
