Bout' a month ago I bought an 80's vintage Hardinge HCNC that had a new retrofit system installed 5 years prior- Fagor 8025- SEM motors,. etc. It was a gem of a deal, in excellent condition for $2500.

I just looked at spindle motor and it's a:

(BIG) Porter Peerless
Permanent Magnet DC Servo Motor
Model- 193-18-0025.0
Enclosure- T.E.N.V.
Continuous duty
Torque- 242
3500 max rpm
Max volts 118
Tach- 31.5 volts/1000 rpm
Max rpm pulse amps- 1904
Spec. IEC 34-1 (1969)
Data Sheet- K8722

The hardinge has the big orginal control cabinent and there is a converter in there of somesort to run the system, but right now I can't get the cabinet open after my bro-inlaw had been playing with it ... :D

There is no HP rating on the motor tag. I can't find installation data on the net so far.

My question is how do you typically powers these motors?

I'm gearing up to start putting this machine online but as with all of my machines, I am limited to single phase for now off of my Solar system.

I'm gonna go back out and try to get that cabinet open, short of plasma ..

Got the cabinet open.

Here are some pics. I assume not all of the stuff in there is being used. Anything look familiar?
