Repulsion-Induction motor not reversing

I recently acquired an old Delta heavy duty shaper (circa 1944). It's powered by a Delta repulsion-induction 1 HP motor (catalog #65080).

The motor has a lever on one end that will move the brush carrier which I believe should allow rotation in either direction. Trouble is I can only get it to revolve clockwise. I've adjusted the lever stop to both extremes with no change in operation.

Four wires come out of the motor to the junction box. For 120v operation red and green are connected to one source lead while yellow and black are connected to the other. For 240v operation red and yellow are connected together while green goes to one lead and black to the other. It's currently running on 240v.

I think you will need to part the cases first. You will probably identify the issue with the lever.

Have you tried it with the motor running? A lot of induction motors won’t change direction unless they’re running.
