Hendeyman, I am having binding issues with my cone head lathe (#17203). I have some questions I was hoping you would answer for me. I have read a lot about the proper spindle shim size. What should this shim be made of? Could you explain the procedure for adjusting the bearings after the...

Hendey cone head lathe taper attachment

So I would say that my screw is shorter than it needs to be since it has no extra length to allow it to move in.

Hendey cone head lathe taper attachment

#17203. Is there a way to reposition the cross feed screw so that it is in the middle of the range inward and outward?

Yes the binding screw is loosened. It seems like the cross feed screw is not in the center of its range. It can only move outward. it is in against the apron so it cannot move inward

Hendey cone head lathe taper attachment

I tried to use the taper attachment on this lathe for the first time and I am having trouble determining if there is a problem with it or if I am missing something. In order to adjust the angle I need to run the slide block to the pivot point of the swivel bar or beyond to allow the cross feed...

    Hendey lathe

Thanks for all of the info. This lathe still has the taper attachment and oil pan. It has been completely restored within the last 10 years and used very little of at all since

    Hendey lathe

Thank you for posting the manual. The metric thread conversions will be handy for me. Any idea where I can find the vintage of this machine?

    Hendey lathe

I recently got a hendey lathe and I was hoping someone here may be able to tell me about it. The serial number is 17203. It will swing 14 or 15 inches and is about 30 inches between centers. There is no name or model or size anywhere on the machine like I have seen in photos on the internet. Any...
