Alternatives to DraftSight ( or any DWG viewer with editing function )

fwiw. been using latest version of Freecad for a while now. has got way better than previous versions. got tired of all subscription/licence BS. never used it with 2d dwg stuff though. would think it would work though

Broke my Renishaw tip, assuming I need a calibration kit to replace it, but they're back-ordered through Haas for 3 months . . . any alternatives?

hum. haven't had to do it in long time (fingers crossed). worked out same as with probe no setting changed i would use a tool that had been measured by the probe, touch it off a 123 block on table. note the difference. touch off next tool add/subtract, don't remember which, the noted measurement...

correct . you would need to recalibrate including re-measure your tools. would only do what i suggested to get by until new probe arrived. instead of being down

in the mean time use the good old edge finder for x/y offsets. piece of paper and a 1-2-3 blk for tools lengths and z offsets. no biggie

5 Axis Machine vs part choice

fwiw. been running a haas umc500 for 1 1/2 year now. have not had any of the accuracy/repeatability issues empower had warned about. we do mainly die work in tool steel with some indexing and occasional simultaneous 5 axis toolpaths. it does the job boss has said he's not buying any more haas...

5 Axis Machine vs part choice

ew, the mazak EZ's look like okuma and haas had an illegitimate child. same kinematics as haas. the mazak's i've ran were not any more rigid than haas

have you called Renishaw tech support directly, i had some weird stuff going on with mine once called them. turned out that apparently when i as replacing the batteries i had bumped the stylus while it was initializing which will trigger it into setup/programming mode and inadvertently changed...

5 Axis Machine vs part choice

if you can seriously retire in 10 years, which would be my main focal point, just hold your nose and buy the haas if it'll produce what you need. sorry empower😁 i certainly understand wanting something besides a haas but....................??????

diy dovetail fixture for 5 axis. worth it?

was looking at a smallish part for our 5 axis that would be served well in a dove tail fixture. then was looking at the price of them. they're pretty proud of those for what they are. am i missing something. have any of you made your own? not something we have used or needed in the past.

How to use a probe on cnc mill

call mazak. it's not black magic or voodoo. there's no documentation with it?? it's way easier than than an edge finder,. the most common thing to break is the tip, which is replaceable.
