Fanuc 16i-TB - hide execution of subprogram?

My lathe manufacturer (Feeler) implemented live tool tapping with a subprogram. They have G184 going to subprogram O9014, etc... When I am tapping, instead of seeing my program I see this manufacturer's subprogram. It's a useless mess of variables and it's just not useful to look at in normal...

Tips on finding centerline? Y axis subspindle lathe

What kind of numbers should I be seeing? It's a well used machine that had an in-place spindle rebuild last year. I had a tech level it before I started using it a couple weeks ago. He took off two static BMT60 toolholders to level looking at the top face of the turret. I meant to watch him put...

Tips on finding centerline? Y axis subspindle lathe

Thanks g-coder05 I ordered a 2" tool setter. I think that'll be a pretty good method. wmpy The offsets I'm measuring are perhaps not super significant out at the OD of the stock, perhaps you're right. However, it's not nothing... the Y axis bore measurements so far are -4.9 thou, -7.9 thou...

New to CNC, G-code practice or straight to Fusion?

So, here's a question. Do those machines both have post processors for Fusion? You can get most of the way with a generic Fanuc or Siemens post, but it probably won't be perfect. I'm actually having to pretty heavily modify a post from a different vendor's Fanuc-based lathe to get the correct...

Tips on finding centerline? Y axis subspindle lathe

I don't really have much experience on lathes besides a benchtop CNC sherline thing 15 years ago. All my (relatively low) experience is from my Hardinge VMC with a Siemens control, vs. this Feeler HT-30SY lathe with an oddly-implemented Fanuc 18i-TB control. So, I could definitely use some help...

Fanuc 18i-TB on a Feeler lathe ... odd C axis units? Weird mode / parameter settings?

Thanks! I thought I found a suggestion of that last night. That seems like an incredibly error-prone way to interpret the syntax. I may have I found a parameter to force it to always treat the code as inch or metric and never switch units entirely if the decimal is missing. I'll experiment...

Fanuc 18i-TB on a Feeler lathe ... odd C axis units? Weird mode / parameter settings?

Ah, for clarification... the NC program has to have C90000 for 90 degrees, but the display shows 90.000 correctly. If I do C90, the display shows C0.090. So, the axis definition seem correct, it's just the NC parsing somehow.

Fanuc 18i-TB on a Feeler lathe ... odd C axis units? Weird mode / parameter settings?

... also, is there a (reversible) way to stop the Lathe from requiring the door to open and close between runs? The previous owner bypassed the door, and I have reach up and jiggle the latch to clear the guard condition. I only run with the door open when doing a dry run well away from the...

Fanuc 18i-TB on a Feeler lathe ... odd C axis units? Weird mode / parameter settings?

Guys, Experimenting, my C axis is in units of 0.001 degrees. To get 90 degrees, I enter C90000. This is a Fanuc 18i-TB controller. Is there a factor someplace that affects that? Even the machine's manual seems to imply it's supposed to work normally (1 = 1 degree, not 0.001)... but then...

New (used) machine needs oil ... spindle oil selection

This chiller is confusing the hell out of everyone I talk to. It's definitely going to the turret circulating lubrication lines and nowhere else. I think since it's not a high speed spindle or anything I'll stick with what the previous owner apparently used for 9+ years and use the ISO 32...

New (used) machine needs oil ... spindle oil selection

Huh. I'm tracing this external chiller and it ONLY goes to the turret. The other two pairs of hydraulics going to the turret are both to the other main hydraulic system. "transport" (google translate of the text above is "turret power switch") and "Disk CL/UN" (translated text seems to be...

New (used) machine needs oil ... spindle oil selection

Our Feeler HT-30SY is here and finally wired for power. Now, I'm trying to sort the oils. It was all drained for shipment. The label on the physical machine has only the way oil (vactra 1, ISO 32) and one 58L "hydraulic tank" (mobil DTE 24). There are two tanks for hydraulics though... a...

VMC electrical noise leaking into my shop

His problem is conducted noise, not as much radiated noise.

    Feeler HT-30SY - BMT60 tooling

I just talked to Kevin at Methods and I'm impressed so far. Very helpful. So, is it common in the machine tools industry for companies to be so helpful with secondhand machines? Hardinge was pretty helpful with my VMC II 600 as well. Perhaps I've just been lucky? Heck, even Metrol was great...

    New Shop Wiring & Finishing

For air, I have been using the Lowes/Home Depot flexible hose. It says it's PVC, but it's not the hard stuff that will blow sharp shards at you. They also say the covers are "oil resistant" for whatever that's worth. I've been using this stuff for 10+ years in a shop environment and longer...
