I bought my VFD from Automationdirect
http://www.automationdirect.com/adc/Home/Home It is a GS1 and I have been very happy with it, and yes it is reversible - ass long as you motor is as well and most are. The VFD is somewhat depentdent on the horsepower of the motor so you will have to look over the choices. You may be able to get a new D1-4 backing plate for the chuck and continue using that but I doubt you can do the same with the faceplate but then again maybe you can use a D1-4 mounting plate for that as well.

Hi,
I noticed you converted your Heavy 10 to the D1-4 headstock and are also using a VFD.
I just purchased another Heavy 10 that is 3 phase and also has the D1-4 headstock. May I ask which VFD you are using and would you recommend it or a different one? Are you able to reverse with it?
My other 10L is a threaded spindle and although I am planning to sell it later, I was hoping to use the 4 jaw chuck and face plates. Can they be adapted to use on thee D1-4 or will I be looking for others?
