Solidworks Dropped Online Licensing - Gouging Customers

So what happens if I transfer my license from my desktop to my laptop, and then say I break or lose my laptop. I have a seat of 2019 professional without maintenance.

    Am I not smart?

I had a shop for 5 years and it was a HUGE learning lesson. There is so much more to running a machine shop than being a good machinist. If you dont understand business, and how to properly run one while also being able to attain and retain work, than think twice before investing all your eggs...

How do you think the $15 Federal minimum wage increase will affect manufacturing?

I no longer own my shop Bob, nor did I have any employees anyways. Just a guy that came in to turn for me and I'd throw him money on the side. I know a lot of places that pay their operators or shop help/shipping less than that. Also, if a person can make 15 HR at a cash register, why take...

Anybody know a good educational source for Esprit milling?

Hmmm thats unfortunate. Mastercam learned the hard way by making their software innaccesible. Now I believe they offer one year educational seats . I do have a business LLC for a shop I dissolved. Perhaps I'll just use that and act like an interested buyer.

Anybody know a good educational source for Esprit milling?

I will be joining a company shortly that uses the Esprit software. I only have experience with Mastercam. I did email Esprit about an educational copy, but its only been 48 hours and they havent gotten back to me yet. Wondering if anyone has a good source for learning.

What are the best small towns for machining that also have a low cost of living?

I will research Grand Rapids, thanks. Couldnt do Detroit, I know it probably wouldnt be a week before I am on the news for being an "evil southerner" that had the nerve to kill a man in self defense.

What are the best small towns for machining that also have a low cost of living?

Nope, city center is a lot more expensive than that, millions! The problem with Austin is the design. Houston and San Antonio have multiple circle freeways that sprawl is built around. Austin is more north and south along I-35 and Mopac. So if you pick one bedroom community, you better find a...

What are the best small towns for machining that also have a low cost of living?

Ha, small world. Blacks and Kruez market are some of my favorites. I actually did my own thing too for about four years. Financed a new Haas vf-2 and leased time on an ST-25. Had a small shop going off of hwy 71 but the onwer had to sell mid lease, and I moved into his shop. Long story short...

What are the best small towns for machining that also have a low cost of living?

Currently looking for work in Austin, TX. The median home cost here is $426,000., and rent reflects that. Shops just dont want to pay a livable wage here, so I have decided to move on. Id really like to find a smaller town, tired of the bigger cities and the people that fill them. Would be...

    Running out of Machinists

This is why I just don't buy the "but prices will increase" response. Look at trucks and all the consumer goods that have gone offshore, they have only gotten more expensive AND WHILE increasing profit margins. I wonder how much those same pair of Nikes that sell for $140 here goes for in...

This is what $640,000 will get you in Austin, TX. I'm thinking about moving to Arizona or South Dakota. 307 Temporary Redirect

    Running out of Machinists

Bob, how old are you if you dont mind me asking? I am 36, and the way things are going I will never own a home of my own or be able to raise a family unless I think drastically outside of the box. There are only so many working hours available, and if you are smart enough to do the math, it...

Like this guys. When I see this I want to pull my hair out. This same place probably has zero issue paying their HR and office workers 70k a year. Machinist Jobs, Employment in Dallas, TX | Indeed.com Machine Shop CNC Programmer / Supervisor- job post DFW Test Incorporated - Richardson...
