Conrad,
Do you have the reference you used to create your balancing spreadsheet? I am interested in understanding more about the calculations.
Thanks!
Jeff
Before and after implementing the suggestions in this thread…
Looks much better to me. I think things will only improve as I gain more experience. Really appreciate all the help.
Thanks!
Jeff
Bob,
Yes. It is a 6x12, and I am using a VFD. Thus, I can vary the spindle speed if necessary, but am currently running at the factory speed.
Thanks!
Jeff
I will take all of the recommendations here into consideration and try again. My sincere appreciation for the input. I will be back with the results!
Thanks!
Jeff
Marcus,
Thanks for the response. I dressed the wheel. It is a Norton 32A, 7” OD, 1/2” thick, 46 grit, Grade H. Wheel and hub are tight. Spindle bearings are new and sound great. I can’t measure any appreciable runout in the spindle taper or hub. No wheel weights. I did NOT balance the wheel. No...
I have a Harig 612, and the surface I am producing does not look as smooth as I think it should.
I am new to grinding, so I am not sure what to look for regarding the quality of a ground surface. Thoughts? Tips?
Thanks!
Jeff
