The best you can afford as you don't really want to be doing this job ever again IMO.

PROJECT DRO ........ #2 So the cross slide linear rail installation has arrived and one I'm kinda proud of. Decided to mount the Mitutoya rail which I acquired with some other items so whilst it's not the latest or most compact rail, nor maybe the right length it's what I had to work with...

Don't even want to think about that one, wearing glasses has some small benefits but finding safety glasses which work over normal prescription ones is a real phaff!!! (certainly here win the UK)...... While I am having a moan about having to wear glasses where in the devil do you put a pencil...

While I think about this another consideration for making sure it's well fixed is if you dislodge it while the chuck is spinning round you may have a large, sharp chunk of metal heading your way - bolts are safer and its staying there for now as seems to be working out well so far, no knuckle...

True. I don't have a demagnetiser so maybe I should buy one :)

I try to avoid anything magnetic as it magnetises all sorts of things that then go on to attract metal particles and crud, not ideal hence rather bolt with small fixings.

Yes mainly as I don't use the compound that much, also the E holder works better on it as its more robust a set up, still have the original items and smaller Multifix set up for when I need to swap.

Couple of small 'accessory' jobs underway while the complex linear rail mounts are being made and remade and remade  First and not exclusive to the 135 are storage/mounting for the Multifix E holders, these items are not light and although I only have a few the plan will be to slowly add...

You might be able to find something like this, a 'castle nut wrench' and modify it to suit your access and size needs, there are also nut versions of this tool again which might be a starting point to make a tool to suit. Good luck.

A 'tool' is going to be needed, not sure there are any off the shelf ones but maybe a hand made one made with some steel plate, an angle grinder and a welder. Impressed with the work you are doing, its a huge job but having empty castings and the knowledge that as you get to start re-assembling...

Schaublin 125B & tool cabinet for sale in Switzerland

Just a heads up that a 125 is up for sale through Apex Auctions ending 21st March - site is Le Locle and the equipment of which there is lots is from a company called Dixi Cylinder (watch makers as I understand) - in Switzerland. Fancied a bid myself but after taxes, import duties, transport...

Seems about right looking at the diagram and they seem in pictures to be the right format of bearing.

Yes me too but I find the motion lever above it a very complicated and not that easy to use. It moves up and down, in and out and can be a little tricky to master easily IMO (in some of the online videos of the 'specialist' machine sellers showing the 135 working they struggle too with this...
