I have 2 cnc plasma cutters and sadly it’s cheaper for me to farm out the cutting to the laser shop. The huge laser shops get a nice break on their bulk steel purchases. They can buy and cut the piece for what I buy the steel for. You need to find a shop that has some buying power.
Yes it would not be a problem. This is the technique they use to repair bridge beams when they get hit. You only need to heat it up to 6-800 degrees to get it to bend so you can do it without taking the temper out. How it works is you heat a small area or line in the steel. With the cold...
I had to put a 20 degree bend 30” long in a 1” thick ar500 plate for my crusher. I used a torch and the flame straightening techniques to bend it. Took about 2 hours a plate but got it to bend no problem. The thicker the plate the better the technique works.
I would put a meter on the incoming legs to the rotary and run the brake. See if the incoming voltage is dropping. If it is go back to the mains comming into the main panel and check that. Make sure the contactor in the brake press is still good. Best way to check this stuff quick is run it...
Couldn’t you just 3D print a cone that is tilted at a angle so you could just part it off on your cutoff line. That would knock it down to how fast you can swap parts.
I have a 3” wewag hbm. It is about 10-11’ long and 6’ wide. Perfect size to fit in my shop. Could use a bigger one but no room for it.
Here is the forsale as for it. https://www.practicalmachinist.com/vb/machinery-for-sale-or-wanted/2-3-4-wewag-boring-mill-horizontal-model-70-a-208392/
Yes you can put strain gauges on a rotating shaft. The guys at the place where I co-opted put 20 30 gauges on some fan blades. They would spin it up to full speed and collect data until it made a mess. They had some sort of rotary union never got to look at it very close.
Shoot did not see...
I actually have a setup like that. Bought it at a auction not sure what it came off. Big thing is you would need to be able to set the cruise while in neutral. That way you can spin and hold the generator at the correct rpm.
Your dodge pickup is pretty sweet. It really needs a drop and some 18” and 20” wheels. I wish the pickups up in my neck of the woods survived as well as they do in your neck of the woods. My summer DD is a 1972 Chevy. I love jumping in that thing and just go for a drive it seems to make all...
I do a lot of rubber work for my crushers. Best way to make a hole is to sharpen a thin pipe dip it in oil and hit it with a 3 pound maul with a piece of wood under it.
It also works good to make a hollow punch that you can toss in a drill. You just need to put a sharp bevel on the end and...
