Okuma OSP700M and Gotek USB emulator
I have a Okuma Cadet Mate mill, OSP 700M control, and my 3.5" drive crapped out. Bought a flea-bay Gotek USB emulator, the 3 digit one. Got a USB stick formatted in 1.44MB partitions. Still having some issues. Has anybody here done this, and which pins are jumpered? Currently I am jumpered...- T-Man 1066

Install would be maybe 16 hrs on a bridgeport or clone of standard frame size. That would assume you are installing ball screws on X and Y. Z does not use a ballscrew because it is not counterweighted, so the standard lead screw is fine. No observed backlash. My mill is a 10x50 with box ways...- T-Man 1066

The spindle control is ran off a VFD, it is not a servo, so no synchronization for rigid tapping. But I can threadmill, simultaneous 3 axis interpolation.- T-Man 1066

I am changing them manually. Its a NMTB 40 with a power drawbar. I just put a M00(H1 - 3/4" HSS SPOT DRILL) for instance, at every tool change. It has 64 tool offsets, so I keep about a dozen tools built at all times, spot drills, face mills, 1/2, 3/4 endmills, chamfer tool, and a drill mill...- T-Man 1066

Yes, because I can keep the quill fully retracted, also if Z is on the quill, and you are running a part with tool changes, you are limited to 5" travel in Z. So all of your tools, from shorter facemills to long drills, have to be close to the same length. I have about 20" of Z travel on the...- T-Man 1066

It was $12K for 3 axis, with Z on the knee, spindle control, electric oiler, and 4th axis ready. Still manual quill, but I can drill and pocket with the table. Yea, I ended up bought a brand new retrofit for my mill. The old one was only twice as good as what B has, wasn't getting the job done. Paid cash, too. B never had one I'm sure, just a bunch of rusty drill presses that are likely too complicated for his simple mind.- T-Man 1066
