How to sell freinds gunsmiths machinery?
Sorry if inappropriate but been tasked with sad duty to see if anyone is interested in friends complete machine shop. He had a stroke and is in hospice. 2 each large small lathes, mills plus shapers and lots of tooling and shop furniture IS the machinery for sale forum correct?- vintovka

How Much Vice Do I Need?
Since last post i stopped to actually look at the RECORD brand vises offered by Lowes. Same color almost but the vise itself appears to be another chinese POS. Doubt they would make good doorstops. MY original 3vs value just skyrocketed and now understand the big fuss over current vise quality.- vintovka

You may want to reconsider any large investments in tooling. With things the way their going making $$ as a smith seems less an less feasible. Again its hit or miss on chinese stuff. Especially cast iron and steel. Anyone remember Chairman Maos great leap forward faux pas with steel production? I understand they cut down entire forests to melt down every piece of scrap iron they could lay their hands on in cottage industry...- vintovka

Grizly and enco are two of the more reputable sellers IMHO. They have a good customer base and would suffer if they let quality slip. I'll bet that 2k lathe is closer to 4K right now -- with no more free shipping!!!- vintovka

Chinese stuff may be a crapshoot. Some like enco reportedly have their own inspectors over at the factory. I'll bet first quality tools go to them and other prime buyers and seconds go to whoever can resell them. Some if not all old time name brands today are worthless and many tools are like...- vintovka
