Rearranging the shop: looking for tips on barfeed alignment

We make a laser for aligning telescopes at my day job. I chuck one and turn on the spindle really slow. check bar feeder up by the machine, then as far away as it will go. Keep goin back and forth until it is right, If you make a sleeve to hold a laser pointer, put 3 set screws in the front and...

    Bob's Home Shop

I had 200 amp 208V 3 phase installed. Power company wanted to know what I would be powering, so I told them. They wanted a return in 3 years, i.e. they wanted power use in 3 years to be equal to install cost. They figured my use and put in a new pole, transformers and ran the line from the road...

New Machine, New Problems.... Spindle Error Codes

Is phase correct? Could it be that the hydro pump is kicking out KMCC1 from no pressure?

At whits end with a employee

Sounds like the op has given this guy the freedom to "go about things differently" and he is not "willing to put in the work". What compromise would you suggest. The op knows he can do the job in a timely manner, but fails to do so regularly. This guy doesn't even cover his wage, but sounds...

At whits end with a employee

This is some of the problem. The entitlement and thinking everyone needs to change for them. When I was a 20 something, I learned how to do the job, worked the schedule that was set, and then tried to improve things with ideas.

    Struggle Finding New Employees.

Seems like a bad idea to compare these two numbers. Population goes up, but those numbers will not need housing for about 20 years. Also how many people live alone? Seems like the housing should only need to increase by about half the population increase.

    Wiring a 24x40 shop - 3-Phase for machines

saying 3 phase is not enough info. Is it going to be 208V, 240V, 480V? At work we have 480V, and I run Mazak SQT 18MSY on 40 amp fuses. At my home shop my SQT 18 has a 100 amp breaker because I have 208V. Both are 3 phase but 480V more power for less amps. Volts x Amps = watts. 208V 100amp =...

Mazatrol Nexus - EIA - Bar Pull and Parting-off?

I have not ran a Nexus control so I have nothing. You said you are trying to optimize the pull and cut off. Do you have an example of a pull and cut off that works on that machine?

Mazatrol Nexus - EIA - Bar Pull and Parting-off?

The program you used as an example is for picking off a milled part. If you are picking off a round part you can eliminate some of the code. The red is not needed. M360 tells my machine (at least 2 generations older than yours) to clamp the sub spindle C axis when positioned. M319 Sxxx tells sub...

    Cut-Off on Swiss

Here is my bar change sub. If you still have an issue with the cut off insert, you could run the top cut pull back face with turn tool reposition main clamp then go back to the main program O8000(BAR-CHANGE-PROGRAM) $1 G99 M3S1=1000 M53 G1X[#814+#815]W-7.5F.050 X CLEARANCE INC Z 7.5...

    Cut-Off on Swiss

I have done this on my Citizen L32 with LNS hydro bar. That is just 1 bar at a time, but I don't see an issue with a new bar. My Iemca loads a bar and positions it to the point defined in parameters, then the main clamps and feeds the bar though the guide a programmed amount. I am not loading a...

    Cut-Off on Swiss

You could do your rechuck before you cut off. Bring sub up and grab part, open main and rechuck, cut off part and start new part.

    Cut-Off on Swiss

Gett'n stuck as in a new bar going into the collet? If that is what is going on, look at parameter 12 Clutch Collet Entry. I am pretty sure this sets the pressure to load the new bar in auto mode.

    Cut-Off on Swiss

I say 30 or so because that is what trail and error got me to on 3/8. My collet sprung, so I am loading bars manually and with the clutch set at 20 it will not push through the main, let alone the guide, 40 was the setting that visibly flexed the cut off, so as much of a guess as anything when I...

    Cut-Off on Swiss

I am running a job in my swiss now that is 3/8" material. When I unclamp to grab more material I could see my cut off flex a bit, then a big face cut. Pusher is pushing to hard on that small material. Is this on your Iemca? from the keypad in manual mode, push F1 Clutch, then F1 to reduce and F2...

    Iemca protected parameters

Working on getting a new to me Iemca working on my Citizen L25. Loader is a 2003 Boss 432 with the hand held pendant. When the bar finishes, the loader retracts and ejects the remnant fine. The new bar is dropped into the channels and then I get an alarm. Alarm 2, bar pusher wrong move. Book...

Convention for CW/CCW direction for live tools

When the live tool is designated as a Z tool, M3 is correct and it reverses in a tap cycle. When the live tool is designated as an X tool, M3 is correct and it reverses in a tap cycle. If you have a Z tool designated as an X tool, M3 is backwards. If you have an X tool designated as a Z tool M3...

Convention for CW/CCW direction for live tools

On my Mori there is a set up page to define the tool as a X tool or Z tool. The machine changes direction for the Z live tool. You still program M3 for clockwise, but it spins the live spindle backwards. On my Mazak it does not matter, they have a gear train in both X and Z live tools so M3...
