Making sense of Grainger threaded rod
I've heard a lot of their ads as well, and none from McMaster. In this day and age, a strong website beats 15 second radio blurbs in my book. If I go to McMaster, I can easily find what I'm looking for, and what spec it confirms to. Going to Grainger's website is like a DIY colonoscopy.- IninefingersI

New to programming a horizontal - Can I program to center line while having the part not centered?
Not sure exactly what kind of a setup you have, but we don't set origins on our horizontals. Everything is programed off center of rotation and top of pallet, regardless of where the parts are on the tombstone and different work offsets are really just a rotation of the tool plane. How much does coolant toxicity matter?
Been using MB50 for years. Have no problems with it. I don't think the coolant is as much of an issue as what is in the coolant. Whatever coolant you use, if you let it get loaded with rancid tramp oil, bacteria, people using it as a spitoon, and God knows what other kinds of science projects...- IninefingersI

Granite surface plate cleaner?
I use the same granite cleaner my wife buys at Menards to clean our countertops. Making the granite into a surface table rather than a countertop doesn't magically change the stone.- IninefingersI
