    I think it's a neat idea. But the photos from the first post aren't $300-$500 worthy. Find a way to make them more upscale. Not necessarily "fancier" but somehow more polished, etc. Think Rolex, iPhone levels of finish, and minimal, yet obsessive detail. Someone would pay $300-$500 for them...

    THIS... It cracks me up observing the "gym junkies." I work with a guy - good guy, a couple years younger than me, but pretty 'swole from the gym. Ask him to break some big M16-M20 bolts loose, and get ready for a laugh. Actually much better now than a few years ago, but it's funny watching...

    Not a machine shop owner, but I don't see how one could walk away after sinking 180k of personal finances into the business. Yes, do go take some time off to let the nerves rest. Then come back and raise your prices significantly. Maybe cut the employee's OT, as summer is around the corner...

    Plunge rough... d yo guys use it?

    It works great for long tools. Doesn't need to be a high-feed cutter, or even a specially-designed plunge-milling cutter. (Though the do even better.) You can do it with any square-shoulder cutter really.

    I have comp'd programs to avoid G41/G42. Mills & lathes. But it requires a deeper level of understanding & requirements, that a new progammer - the Original Poster in our case today - should not try to take on. Let the guy start making parts. Then, later on, we can debate this stuff...

    Quite honestly, you're the only person that I've ever seen advocate against using G41/G42. And lazy CAM jockeys, but those are few & far between. You are clearly superior in skills. No shame there from this end. However, I stand by that your advice does nothing to help the young gentleman...
