    Advice for reaming PEEK

I'm not sure I can justify the cost of the 6 carbide reamers I need so I will probably stick to HSS. Is there really much performance difference between carbide and HSS when reaming plastic? The material I'm using isn't filled so it shouldn't be very abrasive on the tooling right?

    Advice for reaming PEEK

Hi, I have a part I'm programming with small tight tolerance holes in PEEK. The holes range in size from 1.5mm to 3.55mm. I don't have experience with PEEK and I was hoping to get some advice for reaming. Will Peek ream on size or will it likely be undersize? Do I need a special geometry...

Haas DT1 Barking noise on spindle accelleration

Hi, I have a 2018 Haas DT1 and it's making a noise during spindle acceleration. The sound is like a seal barking and it's only after a tool change as the spindle is accelerating. If I run TSC (I have the 300 PSI version), the noise goes away for about 5 tool changes, then comes back. My...

Need 70 degree carbide dovetail cutter / Looking for the German equivalent of Harvey Tool

As an American who moved to Germany I am still not familiar with all the tooling venders here. I need a 70 degree carbide dovetail cutter and a 70 degree chamfer mill but I'm having trouble finding anything from the companies I usually buy from here. I know Harvey Tool in the US has what I need...

New VMC machine in shop with asphalt

This was one of my initial thoughts but my concern is how well bonded the old and the new concrete will be and how large the island would need to be to be strong enough. I can get sakcrete or simailar that states a strenght of 5,000 psi. In the end, would it be safer to make some leveling...

New VMC machine in shop with asphalt

Good advise to watch out for solvent on the asphalt as I hadn't given that any thought. I'm Glad to hear that using a steel riser plate is my best option, I didn't really want to deal with pouring concrete anyway. What about just finding taller leveling pads? Haas makes a larger pad for...

New VMC machine in shop with asphalt

I was never planning to put the machine on the asphalt. At the moment I cannot remove all of the asphalt but only what’s in the areas where the leveling pads will sit. My question is really if it’s best to use taller leveling pads where I remove the asphalt or if I should remove the asphalt in...

    4th axis tombstone material choice

At the moment all the parts i'm making are aluminum but I want to build it thinking that I may cut harder materials on it in the future. My plan is to bolt on aluminum fixture plates. I figure the tombstone would weigh about 100lb if made from cast iron. I haven't checked with my metals...

    4th axis tombstone material choice

So I gather you don't think it's worth using cast iron for it's dampening properties? did you have any issues with the 1018 warping when machining the tombstone square?

    4th axis tombstone material choice

I'm in the process of designing a 4" square x 18" long tombstone for my hrt160. I am hoping to get some feedback from others as to wether I should use steel or cast iron? Would class 40 gray cast iron be a good fit or should i go with the higher strength of something like 4140? I do like the...

    Pierson speed change pallett system

Have you used the larger pallets that overhang the base? I'm just worried a bit about rigidity if I decide to make some larger parts on these.

    Pierson speed change pallett system

Hi, I am hoping someone here has experience with the Pierson speed change pallet system. I'm thinking of buying two of these for my Super mini mill 2 for a few products we make in house. I'm having a hard time finding any posts that talk about how effective the system is. Anyone have any...
