Delta - Wye Isolation transformer questions. Trying to minimize load on my generated phase. Need help!

What is the nameplate rating values of the coolant pump that you suspect of causing the problem, is there more than one single phase coolant pump ? How about the delta / wye transformer can you supply a photo of the tag? It would also be helpful to see a tag of your phase converter idler...

Help troubleshooting a starting issue with large motor via RPC

Checking back in, since it’s been a few weeks since we last talked. Wondering if you had any time to go over the things discussed? How about bypassing the existing overload relay and trying to start the spindle on your RPC? Did you look at the 12 lead motor winding connections in the motor...

Converting a PSU to Use for Electrolysis

My two cents is, if you want to de rust machine sized parts and not have it take three lifetimes you will need a much larger power supply than something sized for a computer. The amount of surface area exposed in the tank on the rusty part and the anode element used in the tank, along with the...

Help troubleshooting a starting issue with large motor via RPC

An additional thing I recommend you do before trying to test your motor and starter, is to relabel your 12 motor wires before you start moving them around. From the photo they looked in poor condition and likely to come off or get mixed up when disturbed. Obtain a fresh book of wire tags and...

Help troubleshooting a starting issue with large motor via RPC

I think if you checked your motor terminations and compared to the new supplied connection diagrams you might find some differences there, and possibly an easier time getting it up to speed, with less current draw. you should be checking your current draws on all three legs while getting it up...

Help troubleshooting a starting issue with large motor via RPC

According to the drawing title block the motor is a dual voltage wye start, delta run,12 lead model, some were equipped with thermal sensors embedded in the windings, and it notes that if it is so equipped, they should be connected into the motor starter protection circuit. Checking the manual...

Help troubleshooting a starting issue with large motor via RPC

You have a 5HP motor starter trying to start a 12.5 hp motor, makes sense to me that its tripping on startup. Starter was sized for 480V supply, you have half of that requirement.

If the motor has 3 wires exiting, it’s a single voltage. If it has 9 or 6 it is likely dual voltage.

    Grounding tranformer

Most likely it would need to be bonded to both, your equipment grounding point and earthing electrodes. You didn’t mention what your equipment is so we have no way of knowing what it’s needs are. Post more information for better results. Were not always clarevoiant here. Even more important...

Nor did you even mention what the actual measured voltage your shop service measures, so that you can set the transformer taps properly, as there are seven to choose from. Having a photo of the transformer internal connections as they currently exist could be helpful as well. Judging by a...

dayton 31tr86 wiring to a drum switch. check and opinions?

What voltage are you trying to wire it for? Where are the ratings for that drum switch? That drum diagram does not provide a schematic of the switching logic, does not even say what the diagram is supposed to be for? Where is the schematic on paper supplied with it?

dayton 31tr86 wiring to a drum switch. check and opinions?

The only way to accurately help you, is if you take the motor out of the housing and submit a clear readable photo of the motor tag, with it's connection diagram. The one posted from the Grainger site may be of a different vintage or manufacturer. The same Dayton model number can be made by...

Question about using #6 THHN wire for a 30HP RPC

80A is 3 phase the full load current of a 30HP motor. It’s from the NEC required size, not from the motor nameplate or some unloaded current reading. Just using the numbers that are required by the code. NEC is based on worse case scenario, not what you can squeak by with.

Question about using #6 THHN wire for a 30HP RPC

Save those pieces of wire, it’s a good reminder of being stubborn cost’s money. The important part is you started to wake up, before it cost you serious money. I’m glad you started taking off your blinders, so the time we all spent on you wasn’t a waste. Best of luck to you in your future endeavors.

Question about using #6 THHN wire for a 30HP RPC

Your actions say otherwise. Several have tried to share with you, but you keep rebutting with your chart. The NEC is a bit more nuanced than that, but you would need to do a bit more study of it to grasp the rest of the rules that apply to sizing circuits. On the table your using the 90C...

VFD running a air compressor and regenerative effects causing over-current faults?

Ron, the differences are due to several factors, but mainly due to better and more materials. Higher efficiency requires lower winding resistance, better steel lamination's for better magnetic permeability and closer manufacturing tolerances. I don't think that you can make a judgement based...
