Machine shop auction by the family of the late Ken McCratic (Avid PM'r)

The lathe is up on blocks because at the time of Ken's passing because he was making 5 sets of lathe feet for a 10EE, two for himself as he was hunting for a 30", one for me and two for whomever else he came across that needed them. Ken, as a hobby, had a side gig where he made tow trailers.

Machine shop auction by the family of the late Ken McCratic (Avid PM'r)

Thanks Cal. Her email to me said the 14th, but that was a few weeks ago. I waited a while to post this since it was more than a month away at that time. They must've moved the auction date. I'll change my original post.

Machine shop auction by the family of the late Ken McCratic (Avid PM'r)

I don't know who among us knew Ken well. I had a month or so where we conversed regularly as he was fabricating some parts for me in return for some grinders and drill sharpening machines that I gave him. Some of you may not know, Ken passed away from a heart attack while picking up a machine...

Monarch 10EE 3HP large frame rear end bell removal?

Likely years of dried out grease; use heat at the shaft part of the bell housing. Get it good and hot. Spray some pb blaster or Kroil or whatever you use for loosening up bolts. (It's gonna smoke so be in a ventilated area) Let it cool for 10 minutes or so then use a rubber mallet to gently bang...

DC Panel main Coil connections to rear of panel

Although I do mention the "wires on the coil" in the original post. Here is a picture with the two wires circled in blue so there is more clarity.

    Leveling the 10EE

So that hole is original from Monarch and off center on purpose? I'm loathe to put the feet on and put it down IF that's not the case.

    Leveling the 10EE

I am moving my 10EE into its position in my garage shop and want to get it relatively level prior to putting the saddle and apron back on. (Still waiting for some oil line parts) I want to get the leveling feet on the machine and then I will move it in with my engine hoist. I went to put the...

DC Panel main Coil connections to rear of panel

I re-wired my entire DC Panel and unfortunately got distracted by some guests and knocked it over (caught it) but the tags on where the two wires from the coil connected to the back of the panel fell off. If anyone with a 1944ish Round dial (I have ELSR if that matters) can trace them for me and...

DC Panel fuse for 1944 Round Dial

I am finishing up my DC Panel and getting ready to reinstall it. I've basically redone it from scratch and want to replace the fuse show in the image. Does anyone know the specs on it, there are no legible markings on mine.

    round-dial 10EE gearbox shafts

It is a spare gearbox. I am going to do it for two reasons, A. I have no time constraint to complete it and B. It will serve as a learning experience and if done properly give me a spare, OR I can replace mine with this one and rebuild that one too. ((-:

1940 10EE Round Dial Gearbox Bearings

Those are mostly correct. The original inner bearing for the change gear (inside the bearing cap, part #27) is a raceless bearing New Departure NM0205, no longer found. The old one can be easily cleaned and re-lubed (it runs bathed in oil anyway). The other bearing (outward facing in the bearing...

    Backgear bearing replacement

Daryl, How about this for inflation? 2401 and 2402 are now $130 per gasket from Monarch.

    ELSR parts image

I am trying to compile all the parts I think I am missing from my ELSR (1944 Round Dial Serial #26080). I have all the parts identified in Diagram E-14 except the following. I may in fact have SOME of them as I have a lot of extra parts, not sure why, probably just because the bags weren't...

Full tear down and Rebuild of a 10EE Round Dial

Ty, mine has so much gunk in there, despite looking around using that hole I never noticed that small set screw. I went around the whole cog and sprayed PB Blaster in there to clean it all out and I see it now. Wow is that a small Allen key to get that out.

    round-dial 10EE gearbox shafts

For a Round Dial 10EE, Serial 26080 Can someone/someones please help me identify which shafts in diagram E-4 (Gearbox) are the shafts visible on the apron side of the gearbox. I am trying to put together a full bearings list and want to have all the correct terminology. Apron side of gearbox...

Full tear down and Rebuild of a 10EE Round Dial

Grant, How did you get that collar off the gear? I've spent hours studying mine and it just will not separate, something is preventing the collar from slipping off the gear and I'll be damned if I can find what it is.
