    South bend 13 steady rest

Accidentally bought the wrong steady for my lathe. Fits on a South bend 13. Needs new fingers. Looking for $350 but make me an offer if I'm out of line. Can ship it required, otherwise located on nyc area.

    Possible South bend steady rest

Checked and it drops right on my buddies sb 13 so I figure that's what it's for.

    Possible South bend steady rest

I was shopping on ebay last week and saw what I thought was a South bend steady rest that might fit my 9a. I didn't have a chance to get measurements from my lathe, and took a shot. I got it today and it's a good bit too big for my lathe. Now I'm trying to figure out what it fits so at least I...

    Insert tooling size

I finally mount my qctp to my sb 9a last night. Now I'm looking at insert tooling and it seems my options are 3/8 or 1/2 in tools. The axa holders I have will hold a 1/2 in tool, but I'm seeing that I may not be able to line up centerline with that size. Which size am I better off with? Thanks...

South bend 9a cone pulley bushing

Could have sworn one side did and the other side didn't. Have to do some more research.

South bend 9a cone pulley bushing

Does anyone have the dimensions for the bushing in the back of a 9a cone pulley. There is some vertical play in the pulley and I think the bushing may be worn.

    South bend 9a umd wicks

In case anyone else has this problem in the future, the solution is to remove the oilers, push the wicks down as far as they'll go and use 2 pocket flatheads to hold them in place.

    South bend 9a umd wicks

That makes sense. The manual said they didnt all have them.

    South bend 9a umd wicks

I think my problem is that its an under drive headstock. I know the oil wick is longer than the standard wick. I think i can get 2 small screw drivers in the oil holes with the oilers removed and hold the wicks down.

    South bend 9a umd wicks

I bought the felt and wick kit from ilion. In the book they show a horizontal drive headstock and two holes you can insert something into to hold the spindle wicks. On mine those holes lead nowhere near the wicks. They angle up away from the wick holes in the bearings. I'm not quite sure how to...

    9a steady rest

If I could check it in person definitely, but the seller is 5 states over. And the person selling it knows nothing about machinery.

    9a steady rest

I found an unknown steady rest that looks like it might fit my 9a for a good price. Seller was using it as a decoration. The one odd thing I noticed is all the ones I've seen previously have a hinge and this one just has a notch in the side.

    South bend 9a belt tensioner

Large sizes and wierd threads are my interest with threading. I got the tensioner fixed and the belt goes in tonight.

    South bend 9a belt tensioner

I've already removed a ton of chips from the areas I can access. I figure there will be a ton more I can't see. As far as the threading dial, I don't know how much threading I will do, but i definitely want to learn single point threading. I work on some old equipment and occasionally run into...

    South bend 9a belt tensioner

Definitely will. I plan on ordering the one with the guide on how to take it apart. Have you tried the threading dials on ebay?

    South bend 9a belt tensioner

I'll keep an eye out when I reassemble it. I just got the machine home Saturday so I've been making a list of repairs, or maintenance to do.

    South bend 9a belt tensioner

    South bend 9a belt tensioner

I recently got a 9a, and found the turn buckle for the belt tensioner was missing. Its an under drive setup. Does anyone know the length of the original turn buckle? I bought one from lowes that fits, but looks longer than the ones I've seen in pictures. Thanks for the help.
