I’ve been working with GF to try to find this functionality, they haven’t yet been able to figure it out. Would you mind telling where within user parameters this option is? I’ve got a ton of drop downs to look through. Thanks.- BRIAN.T

I love controlling both feed and rapid, programs switch back and forth so fast sometimes it’s nice to be able to stop all motion on a dime. Especially with more complicated true 5 work. We got the Mill P 800 UD. It’s our second, the first being 530 control without the “D”- BRIAN.T

Awesome great to know. A agree this is more “fanuc” style, which makes it more familiar. And I can see the advantages, but it feels high risk low reward I think. Also I always have multiple setup parts, so making sure I’m clear on my fist part is more important than getting accurate finishes and...- BRIAN.T

The thing that scares me are crazy feeds and fast rotary movement! I like feeling like I have infinite control of both with one hand. I also like to have my other hand on the coolant on/off- BRIAN.T

Just finished install on our new Mikron! This machine is the first I’ve used with a Heidenhain 640, I’ve been working on the 530s for years. I did play around with hypermills new roughing, it's actually pretty slick, but it needs work. As it currently exists it gets a lot of material off, but you need to follow up with a better 3d roughing path like volumill to get closer to net shape. That being said, I get the impression they are... -

That makes sense, we are considering getting SOLIDWORKS as well, although having to go back and forth would be less ideal, but it's not THAT often I have that much trouble drawing in cam. Maybe 10 percent of the time it sucks... -

Thanks. We're in Chatsworth area. I've definitely heard a lot of good things about NX. But isn't it primarily useful for Siemens controls? We are a Heidenhain shop.... At least in the 5 axis department. I'm sure it doesn't actually matter, but that's my understanding anyway. -

You're not wrong, we should have been more on top of it. However, I shouldn't have to babysit professionals. On an side note, they did bring in another gentleman for training for a few days here and there, I think the thought was that time was on them.- BRIAN.T

True you do, but this feels more like extortion than "keeping them happy". Plus on the bright side, they don't sell these machines anymore, so we actually are moving our service to the manufacturer.
