    The lead screw is under the bed, protected from dirt and splinters. You can`t see it on the pictures. What you see is the bar for the sliding and surfacing feeds.

    It`s finished, after several weeks of hard work, the Lorch is in a perfect shape. As new. The tolerances are better as new. here a few pictures of the lathe.

    Here a few pictures of the recondition process. The painting (2K-PUR paint) is ready and the saddle milled and finished with moglice. Next steps: scrapping the apron and bedways of the cross-slide

    I got the bed back today. The grinding work was done by "de rooy" in NL. The work they did is superb. They have modern grinding machines and work professional.

    All the mechanical parts have to be cleaned and all the bearing will be replaced.

    Now the work begins. The iron case becomes a new paint (RAL 6011 as original). I send the bed to a surface grinder because it is hardened and so it is impossible to scrap.

    Last week I bought this lathe from a German dealer. It's a Lorch B30LZ hight precision lathe from 1975. It is in a very good condition and the dealer gave me a lot of tools surplus. The next month, I beginn to recondition the lathe, so that it looks like new. Best regards Günter
