    Homebuilt CNC in Tokyo

Yet there seems to be no shortage of guys turing chunks of something into $100 bills on these diy stepper shitboxes. Seems practical to me? I could get behind you on this if it was belt driven wooden pile, but by diy standards it's pretty solid.

9/10 times he's a jerk. Regardless, do whatever you can to make it as stiff as possible.

    RFQ small 6061 bushings.

Thanks for the detailed reply. So I generally get material from speedy metals, and they supply cut to the size I want. When I got it a week before this post, it was less than $1 per piece buying square bar stock. If you start from tube, it's less than $.50 When I do them I stick a 6" long...

Can you load on a trailer, and what pullstud do they take?

    RFQ small 6061 bushings.

Thanks for your breakdown, but what machine are you doing them on that takes 2min ea? I do them in 2.5ea by milling 4 at a time from square bar stock and wasting way too much time on finish passes that doesn't matter. And there is 2 setups!

    RFQ small 6061 bushings.

I did not mean to upset anyone with this. I've never worked in a shop other than my own. I don't do "jobs" I make parts and retail them. So I really don't have a clue how these things are priced. In this particular case this was a part of a kit I make and sell a couple a month. I've made...

Citizen F16, Got your quote. Only one that seemed reasonable to me. Actually less than what I expected.

    RFQ small 6061 bushings.

I figured responding in the thread was a more economical way than responding to 30pm's individually saying you are 2x high. Can buy 1"od 1/2id tube from speedy for $.5/inch. Hit it with a 9/16" reamer and turn the step on it, cut off. Again I can do it in my big vmc, from solid, and pay...

    Tormach or not?

Uhh should be doesn't count. A premium 1100mx without any options is 34k. As much as I hate saying this, a haas mini mill starts at 36. it'll run on single phase, and fit about anywhere an 1100 will fit. So that's a much better alternative. as for the smaller ones without a toolchanger...

    Tormach or not?

Well from your above posts it doesn't sound like you do understand.... And you are missing the point of everyone else. To be worth a shit at running one of these things you need to be able to figure things out. If you can't figure out how to make 3 phase machine run on single phase, chances...

    RFQ small 6061 bushings.

Thanks for the quotes, but at the prices I was quoted I think I'm going to just run them on my mill. Doing 4 at a time it's just at 10min. I figured someone should be able to do them at low enough cost it didn't make sense to do them here. guess not.

    Tormach or not?

me thinks you don't have a great understanding of vector mechanics.... If the generated leg is the right length and angle to the line legs, then they become equidistant, and thus 120* apart, and real balanced 3 phase. That goes for both a rpc and a pp. For an the only 2 gotchas are it drags...

    Purchasing 6061 Aluminum

Do you really find meatalsupermarkets is cheaper? 9/10 times I get from speedy metals it's 2/3 the website cost which puts it below what metalsupermarkets posts.

    RFQ small 6061 bushings.

I'd like a quote for 100 of these. 6061T6 or equivalent. Can be +- 0.005 on all of it, but the .748OD. That needs to be +0-0.002. Goes into the eye of a heim joint. Can be made from 1" rounds and the major OD does not need turned. I'm going to do a few on my mill for now, but at 3min each...

How, and where do you buy 100lbs at $4/lb.

Moving VMC with skates- Preferred methods?

100% tricycle is the way to go if possible. When I moved my machine out of the owners, it was a pita on 4, always kicking a skate out. At my place we went tricycle, and it was mint. We used a forklift to push/pull. 16k 40x20vmc.

Anyone using speedy metals of rockford? / northern illinois metal suppliers.

I had a better go around with them today than in the last few. Seems like lately I kept getting a random new sales guy, and it was always website price +20%. And usually it's been about 66% of website price when I call to order. Turnaround has not been that bad. Usually day of if I call...

Using Xometry to compare your own quotes

I feel like it's complicated for me since I retail what I make. So how much does the shop charge the retailer for the part? Right now it's one entity so idk how that works. Anyway, since I'm just starting out, I've done this a couple times just to see. Both times on a brake booster delete...

I.C. Engine Main Bearing Housing Bores?

I think I would start with the crank, and work backwards. Make sure the crank journals are sreviceable, and work with a bearing supplier to find shells for that journal. Then work to get the bore id. Maybe you grind the crank to use a known and easy to get bearing shell, and rework the...
