    Buying a shop?

Where is this shop located? Everything sounds exactly like my old employer…

    Employee or Robot?

You nailed it on the head, been running a lot of Xometry work as well as work for some other brokers and it really is cheap work. We do make our own line of parts as well, but sales figures aren’t near enough to pay the bills, it’s more of a side thing for now. I’ve been actively seeking clients...

    Employee or Robot?

Wow, this is awesome seeing all of the insight and everyone throwing out different points of view, thank you! I think everybody is completely accurate with their statements. I’ll give a little more insight, I’m in a small garage shop in Socal, Temecula to be exact. I could definitely use a...

    Employee or Robot?

That would be ideal, seems like every time I try to raise my rate, I get outbid though. So needless to say, finding better customers/jobs is also at the top of my list but for now, I make up for the lower rate by putting out a lot of parts/jobs. An area I think both a robot/employee would assist...

    Employee or Robot?

Good Evening, I am in a dilemma. I’m a small one man garage shop with 2 DN solution VMCs and at the point of really needing some help to keep up. Currently, I am working 14-18 hours a day, 7 days a week and have been for a long time as when I stop, the whole business stops. My work is roughly...

Doosan Cobot for entry to automation?

Good Evening, I’m contemplating purchasing my first robotic arm. I have no previous robotic experience so I’m a total newbie when it comes to automation/robotics. I currently have 2 DN Solutions VMCs and have had very good luck with them as well as Ellison in SoCal. They have some nice looking...

    MFG.com for new clients

Thank you for your responses, definitely sounds like a hoax. Good ole fashioned door knocking it is haha.

    MFG.com for new clients

Good Morning, just curious what your thoughts are on the “New” Mfg.com. I’ve read the old threads on MFG.com about jobs just getting awarded to China in the past and how they’d go for Pennie’s due to competing with China. Supposedly in the recent years, MFG has been bought out by shapeways and I...

    New Shop- Looking for work/customers

Good Evening, My Name is Andrew. I own a new CNC machine shop located in Temecula, Ca (SoCal) called Billet Craft Designs. We are looking for some job shop work and hopefully ongoing good working relationships. We are an up and coming brand in aftermarket Harley Davidson parts but my background...

    Haas Probe Calibration Issue

Good Afternoon, I have a 2016 Haas super mini mill with the wips probe on it. I had it serviced a couple weeks ago and when I went to run it again, I noticed the probe was out of calibration. I re-indicated the stylus back in and re-calibrated both the tool setter and spindle probe and when I...

    New Machine Day

I did have to run a transformer on mine. I had 250V coming in and stepped it down to 220V. No hiccups at all! I’m running an American Rotary 30Hp phase converter and transformer from them as well and the DEM runs perfectly.

    Xometry Prices

Wow, I just checked and they sure did, I wonder if they’re headed towards shutting down?

    Xometry Prices

Good Evening, I am curious what your thoughts are about current Xometry pieces being offered for their jobs. We did quite a bit of Xometry work last year but for the past 6 months have been doing work from other customers. I started checking Xometry again recently to see what’s being offered and...

    New Machine Day

Awesome! I’d love to get a hold of a few orange vices in the future! I think the little coolant leak is isolated to my machine. It did it from day one and it was caused because the door “sagged” just enough to where it was sealed at the top and had maybe an 1/8” gap down towards the bottom...

    New Machine Day

I know this thread is a few weeks old now, but I wanted to give a 150hr update on the DEM. We have just crossed the 150 hr mark and still couldn’t be happier with this machine. It holds tight tolerances all day long, and produces beautiful finishes. Not one hiccup, no alarms, no issues, it just...

    New Machine Day

Beautiful part! Hopefully you are just as happy as I am with this machine! In the future I see a new DNM replacing my haas haha

    New Doosan DEM 4000

Yes I surfaced the countersinks on the aluminum parts and surfaced this angle in stainless. Super simple surfacing but hopefully gives kind of an idea! No issues in regards to program look ahead or anything like that. Runs great!

    New Doosan DEM 4000

Here are some more part photos off the DEM. Ran our first stainless part today as well on it and it’s got loads of rigidity!

    New Doosan DEM 4000

I did get the probe system but I haven’t tried it out yet. The applications guy from Ellison is coming out Wednesday to show me how to use it! I’ve been running the machine with manual offsets for the past few days and the more I get to know it, the more I like it. It’s definitely in a higher...

    New Doosan DEM 4000

Yes I’ll attach some pics below. The noise of the machine isn’t bad. It’s about the same as my haas, maybe a hair quieter. Overall very pleased with the machine. Very high quality and makes for probably the best machine out there that will fit into a garage!
