    Conversational program for older Fanuc

My two cents... you should look at Kipware. Let me say that I am not a machinist nor a CNC programmer. I do repair CNC machines. I discovered Kipware 10 years ago while looking for estimating software for someone, and I thought it was an interesting idea. In the past year I've mentioned Kipware...

Kiwa Excel 4 parameters needed, Fanuc 10M

Thanks, I will give them a shout. I know there are a few of these machines still around, I was hoping someone would photograph their parameter sheets for me. Kinda crazy, if they had oil-lubed the Z screw on this machine it would still be running fine. They grease lubed it, with no provision to...

    0t---cranes of Chernobyl---pt 1

What a waste of nice hardware! Who's afraid of a little radiation, anyway...? :)

Kiwa Excel 4 parameters needed, Fanuc 10M

Hi. I am trying to resurrect a Kiwa Excel 4 VMC. The previous owner died and nobody knew anything about replacing batteries. Some fine soul came along to look at the machine and "helped" by stealing all the paperwork. Control starts and gives RAM Parity Error as expected. Probably going to part...

    Fanuc KeyPad Buttons Need Replacing

As I said, quality may vary :) And not all membranes on ebay are made in China. Caveat emptor!

    Fanuc KeyPad Buttons Need Replacing

Sorry, I misunderstood what you wanted. In electronics terminology, that is called a "keycap". By examining the physical switches, you might be able to determine the manufacturer (it will probably be one of the big Japanese makers, OKK, Omron, Matsushita, etc.)... with that info, and dimensions...

    Fanuc KeyPad Buttons Need Replacing

Have you looked on ebay? Replacement keypads are available for most popular controls. Quality may vary!

Motor and gearbox maintenance without forklift

Can you back a pickup in there? Make a receiver hitch mount for that (ugh) Hazard Fraught crane with hand winch. Much handier than having it mounted to the truck bed. As much as I dislike HF junk, that thing comes in handy all the time. I have a forklift adapter, and keep saying I'm making a 3pt...

    Pole Barn Machine Shop

I'm no expert on injection pumps, but based on experience with locomotives ("unit" injectors), two things: (1) denatured alcohol does an excellent job cutting crusty carbon and sticky diesel fuel. Marvel Mystery ain't bad either! (2) you need to be scrupulously clean working on these things...

Anyone have the manual for a Matsuura MC 510 VG?

Strange. I've had positive experiences with Matsuura USA. I'm actually amazed at their willingness to support machines which are downright ancient, as long as you are polite and make reasonable demands. I think they deserve public credit for being much better about this than most machinery...

Anyone have the manual for a Matsuura MC 510 VG?

What is special about the G? I have the 510V manual. Unfortunately the manual quality doesn't approach the quality of the machine :( Have you tried Matsuura? If you are polite, they are usually quite helpful, though some old stuff has slipped through the archive cracks.

Starting over in the shop, Hard times ahead?

If I had to throw in my two cents... start thinking about the implications of self driving vehicles, passenger and freight. You think the world has seen disruption this year? Ha. Position yourself to survive that transition, because it is inevitably coming. No youtube videos of the strip club??? :(

    Mitsubishi DWC-90SZ Wire EDM, part-out

I have a Mitsubishi DWC-90SZ Wire EDM machine being stripped for parts. With no EDM experience and Mitsubishi's fine support, it seemed impractical to make this run again. Most of the electronics are in excellent condition. Some metal stuff like chassis parts have some corrosion from...

"Standard Router" M-codes for spindle control?

I appreciate that, but I already have the 8025 manuals and I know that M10-16 turn on output pins on the connector. There is a PLC besides the controller, and the PLC program is what determines what happens when M10-16 pins turn on. This is "MTB" (Machine Tool Builder) specific information that...

"Standard Router" M-codes for spindle control?

Could someone with a "Standard Router" (that's a brand that was made in Texas years ago) CNC router with the Fagor 8025 controller share an explanation of M codes M10-M16 for controlling the 2 and 3 spindle versions? I only have docs for a single spindle machine. I know M11 and M12 are used on...

12 ton machinery rolls on ebay any good??

Many good notes here! Some thick rubber or a layer of plywood on top of skates is often useful. It can be helpful to weld a bar between two skates if moving something big, and I've thought about making adjustable span bars that can bolt on to link them. Another idea--since some here are...

12 ton machinery rolls on ebay any good??

My friend and I have a fair number of these skates now. I think six of the 6 roller, and he just added 4 of the 8 roller for work. We have moved quite a few pieces with them, including the core of an HBM that weighs about 15-16,000 and was pushed and pulled with a forklift. I moved an 8500# VMC...

KIA Kit30A Gang Lathe Alarm Help

I've homed it quite a few times. The lights for X and Z come on to indicate they are homed, as is standard practice on Yasnac. I think I mucked something up and perhaps enabled the stroke limits. Does your spindle run now? Any trickery with chuck, door, etc. to get it on? I wish I had the Kia...

KIA Kit30A Gang Lathe Alarm Help

Never mind on the footswitch idea. I opened this one today, and it has only one set of contacts. I cannot explain what Kia might have done with the second footswitch signal which is used in the ladder. After further experimentation, I think AL-55 could have to do with stored stroke limits...

KIA Kit30A Gang Lathe Alarm Help

I also have had the AL-55 show up on my machine. I was "lucky" enough to get a schematic and ladder diagram... in quotes because it's pretty lousy documentation. Several signals related to AL-55 are conveniently missing from the index, but skimming the whole doc, they seem to be for "FS2"...
