Aaaaaand...it's indeed the encoder. Swapped X and Z and it was clear right away. 1600 € for a new one... -

Thank you, we will try swapping the encoders on Thursday. What's crazy is if it gets past the first move along X it just works all day after that. Here you can see (and hear) it start when I reach X244.46 Here it can be heard better And the X coordinate jumping after overload -

Sorry to post in an old thread (love the work you did!), I recently bought a 98 SQT 250 and it came with the part catcher bucket missing, is there any chance you could share the 3d model? Thinking I would just try 3D printing it and reinforcing certain areas if necessary. -

Yeah, I don't think I want to get into a retrofit job for a machine that old. I would either like to have full C axis capabilities or no milling at all because a machine would be significantly cheaper. Exactly what I was afraid of...brings the capabilities of the machine down quite a bit. Does anyone think it can be retrofitted or are major parts different? Anyway, I'll try looking at some Mazaks now as Mazatrol is so good for programming at the machine and hopefully find one that can do...- sasky115

I see it has a C axis, but I thought it can't NOT have a C axis if it's also to be used for milling. But what is the MC model then? They clearly exist as separate machines. Basically what I'm not sure about is whether or not I can do simultaneous XC milling, not just let's say clamp C on a...- sasky115
