    I'm a Stud

Cleaned up the stud / thread interface and soaked the area with penetrating for 24 hours. Still wouldn't budge using the double nut method. Got it toasty with a propane torch and let it cool. Douched the stud with the entire contents of an inverted can of compressed air until it became super...

    Separtaing brazed parts

    Separtaing brazed parts

Hello john.k and magnetic.......... Thanks for those tips. Didn't know any of that. As stated, I have zero experience brazing. Residual braze remains on the separated parts. If I go the braze route, can I leave that "cleaned up" residual and use it as a tinning (as in a tinned solder joint) ?

    Separtaing brazed parts

Thanks for that, John. Didn't know that about copper contamination. Would have preferred to braze it back together. I have zero experience with brazing, going back together it's going to have to be TIG. I'll be using 0.045" ER70S6 rod.

    Separtaing brazed parts

Hello Memphis The damage that I am concerned about would be distorting the metal or altering the properties of the steel (if any) The parts are rather small, measuring 1" x 2". No large flat surface areas are involved. Picture the contact area of the brazed joints to be that of a "T" joint of...
