Is there a monthly magazine for metal fabrication?

I was wondering today if there was a magazine for metal fabrication. Do any of you subscribe to any?

    Horizontal Bandsaw What to buy?

I have read numerous posts in the archives, but I'm still not sure what to buy. I currently have a POS 4x6 shop fox. Most of us have had a saw built like this and are aware of the issues with it. I have a home/hobby shop where I usually build and tinker for myself so I do not have a need for a...

    Lathe projects for a beginner

I've posted here a few times before and I'm grateful for all the information I've recieved. Now that I've got my lathe leveled and set up I need some project ideas. I've made a drawbar pin from some plans at the local votech center, but spring classes are almost over and new classes won't start...

    Paint at the Turk Works

Paula, how didi you get the parts that are not painted to shine so much? The handle and the quill look great. I have just finished painting my 13 x 6 and bead blasted most of the stuff leaving a ruff finish. These parts would be hard to polish, but possible I guess.

    OT but still revelant

After you drill a hole in a piece of metal I've seen people pick up something about the size of a pen and run it around the top of a hole. Am I correct in calling this tool a "deburring tool". I need something to serve this purpose. Can someone recommend a quality product. Thanks

How much wear is to much?

You're right I really didn't give any background info about myself and I appoligize. I am pretty much new to machine work. There is a South Bend 16/24" x 10' where I work. I started messing with it some and realized that I had an interest so I started looking for a used one I could afford. I've...

How much wear is to much?

I disassembled the cross slide and found a chunck out of the nut and it was cracked, so I ordered a new one from South Bend. I will try the suggestions on the saddle. Jim Rozen asked what type of work I 've done on the machine. I have not done any work on it personally, I can only assume. I...

How much wear is to much?

I picked up my lathe yesterday (13 x 6 ser # 163267) and today I was giving it a better looking into. I can grab the apron and lift the entire saddle about 3/16". I'm sure the bed is worn, but there is not a visible "dip" in it. It seams to be about the same all the way down the bed. Is this...

    Hauling a lathe

Thanks. I have plenty of 2" straps and also nylon slings to lift with. You answered my question by saying it was O.K to pick it up. I know that may sound silly, but I didn't want all that money split in two halves.

    Hauling a lathe

A Blanket? I want to use mineral spirits to clean it with, not protect it from something hauling it home. Unless the machine is really gunked up, it'll probably work fine as is. Yes . I know it works because i've tried it out. Is it really gunked up? Not to bad. What are you going to use to...

    Hauling a lathe

I am new to precision metalworking, but enjoy it enough I purchased a lathe. I bought a 13 x 6 South Bend lathe Saturday and I will go tomorrow and get it. I've looked through some old posts about hauling and would like a little more info on how to lift the lathe. I will use nylon straps to...
