I think he's hoping for get between $500 and $1000+ for that lathe - and seems a bit more interested in a local sale. Metal etched tag restoration
I was doing a little more research and found this video tonight on youtube. I think this is probably the process which was used on the original Clausing 8520 metal tag. The issue now, of course, is trying to get paint back into the etched areas, without the resist part of the tag being there... -

I would try listing it on Craigslist. You should be able to find someone to buy it that way. I think I would power wash it first and try to remove some of the dirt, so that potential buyers can see what they are dealing with. Just be sure to dry it well with compressed air and chase the water...- RayJohns

Question for Clausing 8520 owners
Does anyone have a good source for brass push button oilers that can be used to replace the ones on the Clausing 8520 oil passages? I've seen photos where people have installed some nice brass looking ones. I'd like to pull mine out and install the brass ones, but I'm having a difficult time... -

All good points. The 8520 tends to be more popular because the spindle is MT2. As Steve mentioned above, 8525 is the same machine, but with a B&S7 taper. The 8520 comes apart readily and can easily be handled by two people. You can unbolt the head assembly from the column and easily lift it...- RayJohns

Just depends on the condition and what comes with it. For one which needs a lot of restoration, you may be looking at around $800 to $1000. I contacted Clausing, but they no longer supply them. I'll check with them again and see if they might know the original source. However, the mill was produced in 1966, so we are talking 45 years ago. I may try hand painting it and see what sort of luck I have. Ray -

okay thanks! I do hear people say you can use the controls of the CNC for manual work (and I have seen it in action also), but it would be nice to still have the cranks I think.
