Monarch 10EE Weight?
I know total weight gets asked all the time but has anyone ever weighed a 10EE with all the covers off, Tailstock off, Chuck off? I also have no Motor Generator in mine as it's one of the ones with an external MG. I'm trying to figure out what else I can put in the trailer with it weight wise...- Lance-W

It'll be fine over the bare metal. It was standard practice before the epoxy was popular/invented. Go for it and don't worry about it.- Lance-W

Jim's 10ee rebuild thread
I just drilled a piece of bar stock with the same size holes the same distance apart and stuck a couple of dowels pins in it and wala! I have a wrench?- Lance-W

Be careful. Monarch did some weird stuff with their socket heads. Most I found were a smaller diameter than what you find off the shelf mil-spec or not. It's like they were trying to use the counterbores to center stuff which is really strange. Most of the ones I replaced I ended up having...- Lance-W

Monarch 10ee tach wont move, spindle on/off switch intermittent problem
When I bought my round dial and the guy was demo'ing it for me he stated "It has always had a hard time going into reverse". Well when I took it apart the switch stack (you'll understand when you take it apart) it only had one of the very long screws in it so the parts were all just floating...- Lance-W

Not to thin the body filler but to clean up the board you mix it on. Wipes it right off... Paint should be thinned with reducer specially formulated to thin the paint your using it with, there are always published mix ratios. Look up the instructions for the paint. The Feather Fill will work just fine the other stuff is just a bit easier to sand. I painted many cars with Feather Fill and they turned out just fine. When you mix the Feather Fill cut it about 10-15% with acetone and it'll lay down a lot smoother. It slows the cure time a bit but the smooth...- Lance-W

1) SPI epoxy is a perfect base primer. It's expensive and I have always had problems cleaning the gun. I use acetone and it tends to make it curdle, maybe there's something better but I've never found it. Even with the curdling issue I still use it, It's that good of a product. 2) Rage...- Lance-W

New to me Monarch 10EE just arrived!

My first Monarch 10EE '5/42 round dial S/N 13938
The final pictures. It's done and it cuts beautiful. The only thing I'm waiting on is the big brown truck that's bringing the DRO on Tuesday. That and I have to find the money for some chucks that it deserves.- Lance-W

When I got the lathe the sump was completely full of oil. I think it was from the front spidle bearing seal but then I'll never really know. It was such a mess that I told myself "I'm putting a drain line on that so it's easy to drain" Well this is what I ended up with........- Lance-W
