Need Help Please - X Axis Random Offset Fadal VMC 4020 HT

First year for USB on machines
The pendant on my friend's Haas has a short cable. I read somewhere else on this forum that long cables plugged into an rs232 port have the problem of baud rate limitation, like less than 9600. I wish I could but my friend's Haas doesn't have a floppy drive at all, unless maybe it's hidden somewhere. If I do end up looking at a machine with a floppy drive, what's been your experience in terms of file size limit? -
