spanner screw - on carriage manual feed gear - 10ee
Still restoring this 10ee. By chance is this spanner screw left hand? Trying to loosen it. It is on the larger manual feed gear. Update: Never mind. It is right hand and just needed a little more persuasion.- ToolCat

Pulled the cap on the back of the live spindle motor. Tachometer Generator. No encoder on it otherwise. It must be the live spindle on this machine is meant for "feed per minute" only.- ToolCat

11T with live tooling and C axis. On the PRG_CHK screen it displays ACT.S (actual spindle speed). Isn't it correct that while in milling mode it should be reading the live spindle rpm and in the lathe mode it should be reading the main spindle rpm? It isn't doing that. Determined even G1 would not work when in milling C axis mode. Look at the "actual speed". It is zero. So for test I set it to G98 (feed per minute) and now it will feed with G1. When in milling mode it is not reading the rpm of the live tool but is still reading the rpm of the main...- ToolCat

This is a 11T with live tooling and C axis. The live axis is spinning. It moves into position but then it just hangs here. It must be reading the G32 because it is showing it has a distance to go. I tried it with G84 and it does the same with it. Any ideas?- ToolCat

Concerning SPFIX. M18 is milling mode and M17 is lathe mode. I notice now in that screen that neither M18 or M17 is on (Y7 bit 0 or bit 1). Maybe that is why SPFIX is lit up, as it would need to be one or the other.- ToolCat

Yes, I think so. But I only switched it to mdi and turn the spindle on. Tapped and wiggled connections with wooden stick. Nothing obvious with that, but I'll try again later today. Something interesting today is the spindle starts like 90% of the time. Yesterday it would rarely start.. more...- ToolCat

Now this morning the NC/PC button doesn't switch screens. It worked yesterday. I shut it down and with ohm meter checked the NC/PC button from the backside and the button itself works. What could cause it not to switch screens?- ToolCat
