Quincy 210 Compressor Repair/troubleshooting, very loud!!!

Whoops I remembered wrong. These don't have the flat valve covers with the bolts, they have the retainer ring with the cap screwed on over them. Still, check to see if the rings are screwed down properly to keep the valves seated in the head.

Quincy 210 Compressor Repair/troubleshooting, very loud!!!

I doubt end float is the problem, but I usually I set them with about .004", or where the crank could be easily spun by hand with no end to end knocking. I'm thinking the valve caps may have gotten switched and one retainer bolt is not holding the valve snugly into the head. Back them off...

Atlas Copco SF15+ Scroll Typer Compressor Element Failures

I'd see if I could contact a bearing engineer to see what the expected life of a shielded, permanently lubed bearing is, assuming no out of spec loads or temperatures were encountered. I have had good luck asking questions as eng-tips.com. The pros there have been very generous with their...

Air compressor recommendations for home shop

Just FYI, any Brunner will be at least 40 years old now, since they went t/u in the early 80s. Good tough machines, but very old. A company called Atmosphair in Toronto advertises spare parts but I can't vouch for availability. There are single cylinder 2 stage compressors, but they are rare...

Manuals needed for a Kaeser SK 11 7.5 kw Saturn screw air compressor

Normal mineral oil will work fine. Kaeser filters are just rebadged MANN if I remember correctly.

Manuals needed for a Kaeser SK 11 7.5 kw Saturn screw air compressor

AW32 hydraulic oil will work fine.

Quincy 350 Compressor won't build more than 20PSI...

It takes time for the oil pressure to bleed off. As it is coasting down, the oil pump is still turning and making pressure, so the pump will not unload until the compressor has come to a full stop and oil pressure has dropped to a point where the hydraulic unloader can retract and let air...

Quincy 350 Compressor won't build more than 20PSI...

Put the correct v-ring and x-ring in it or you will be chasing your tail. I'm betting any decent hydraulic shop could set you up. The oil pressure regulator is at the 9 o'clock position on the back of the pump. Loosen the locking nut and screw the shaft in or out to set the pressure. It's just...

Quincy 350 Compressor won't build more than 20PSI...

The hydraulic unloader also prevents the pump from making air if there is low or no oil pressure. That's the "Safe Q Lube" feature. Someone will definitely be coming to check why there is no air.

OT: Who Else Rides a Motorcycle?

The 650 was sublime. I saw a picture once of a 650 with a Maxim X motor in it. Looked like it was made for it. I had a 900. It was a very pleasant and practical machine. I'd love to jam an X motor in one. 20V goodness in a refined BMWesque road burner.

Quincy 350 Compressor won't build more than 20PSI...

You'll lose your low oil pressure protection, but it should work. I'd spend some time to get the Quincy system working. It's really the best setup. There are two filters in the inlet and outlet of the hydraulic unloader valve. These might be fouled and preventing air from reaching the towers...

OT: Who Else Rides a Motorcycle?

Had one. POS. Fun for about 3000rpm in the midrange. Otherwise felt like a 600lb 400cc twin with a meltdown occurring just below the nads. Smoked like a laboratory beagle unless you rode it every couple of days. Ugly too. Replaced it with an 83 GS1100. Should have kept that one for sure.

Quincy 310 ROC 21 compressor pump issue

There may also be a leak between cylinders if the head gasket isn't sealing. The problem with the valves is not the seat finish, it will be discs that aren't seating properly. More lapping will not do anything.

Quincy 310 ROC 21 compressor pump issue

High interstage pressure = HP valve problems. Full stop. I don't think you're out of the woods with the LP valves either. I'm telling you, you can chase these problems for hours and it all comes down to bad valves not seating properly. I was 4 hours at a laundromat one day doing this. Bloody...

Quincy 310 ROC 21 compressor pump issue

Don't waste your time on pistons and cylinders. They have zero relevance to this issue. If you depress the intake valve disc and there is no pressure to unload, then there is no pressure being produced by the LP cylinder, which indicates a LP intake valve problem. Frankly, I can hear your...

OT: Who Else Rides a Motorcycle?

I have an 83 XS650, an 81 Virago monoshock that I put an 1100 motor in, and a Bandit 1200 awaiting resurrection with a GSXR1100 motor and flatslides. The 1200 motor went to the great gig in the sky back in 2018 and I'm lucky I didn't go along with it.

Quincy 310 ROC 21 compressor pump issue

Put a 100 psi gauge in the interstage relief port and see what the interstage pressure is doing. It might be first stage issues. Once you have this problem solved, make sure you install a 60psi safety relief valve in the head. It's there to show you when you are having valve problems and...

Air dryer for blasting cabinet? Do i need desiccant?

No refrigerated dryer will work with the kind of heat load that arrangement would create. You need the approach temperature to a refrigerated dryer at 100f or less, unless it's a high temp dryer with a built in aftercooler. The vibration would likely kill it in short order as well, which is why...

Air Compressor Unloader Circuit - How does it work?

The orifice is to delay complete emptying of the unloader circuit to allow the pump to get up to speed before it begins producing air. It helps keeps the inrush current of the motor manageable.

Air Compressor Unloader Circuit - How does it work?

This unloader style also does double duty to protect your compressor if it runs low on oil. Like the Quincy setup, if no oil pressure is developed, the pump will not produce air after anough has been compressed to actuate the unloader system. It's been awhile, but if I remember correctly, the...
