    G28.1 touching down twice?

Hi guys, Using Mach3. I'm trying to get my Plasma floating head to touch off on the material once (limit switch is in place and working). I am using G28.1. My problem is that the head touches down fine, raises up (to what I believe is the "intermediate" height), and then touches down a second...

CNC plasma Z axis floating head touch sensor G code nightmare

Hi guys, I have a CNC plasma unit that had no Z axis. I added a Z setup with limit switch for my touch sensor. I have it wired to Z home in Mach3. I have tried multiple different post processors in Sheetcam for my setup, but none have made it work correctly. My problem is the touch off line...

    Serpentine belt vibration

Hi guys, Recently installed a new serpentine belt on my 13". The lathe seems to vibrate like crazy as the joint on the belt goes around the headstock pulleys. I have it scarfed almost perfectly on both ends, the thickness of the joint isn't even much more than the regular belt itself. As soon...

    Saddle way design?

Thanks. I've seen a few people now who have had their ways reground and they did exactly that.

    Saddle way design?

Hi guys, I am in the process of rebuilding my SB13 and noticed the ways on the bottom of the saddle seem to be ground down in the middle of the saddle. The ends are perfect and it slides perfectly on the bed itself. There is zero damage to the bed ways and they are in very good shape. Is this...

13" QCG angular bearing & thrust bearing #'s

Hi guys, Wondering if anyone has some replacement part #'s for: 1) The angular ball bearing pressed into the QCG for the leadscrew, New Departure 20205. Is the direct modern replacement a 7205 bearing? 2) The thrust bearing on the leadscrew itself (Aetna brand). I saw in a video somewhere...

    13" Bronze bearings adjustment?

Anyone know what the headstock spindle bearing play is suppose to be for this model with the bronze bearings? I saw a video for a 13" that had just plain bearings (no bronze) and he said 1-2 thou of play when applying 75 lbs of force up. My chuck side bearing has a small amount of play...

    Restoring ways/bed on SB13? & Belt replacements

Thanks! I will probably do something similar with the cone pulleys (although not to that extent), as I have a second SB13 that is functional and a daily driver. Thanks for sharing your method. You can check out my build here if you're interested...

Nice job on those. How did you polish them so nicely? Methods used?

    Restoring ways/bed on SB13? & Belt replacements

Thanks but being in Canada this makes it 2x the price that it shows on their site, even on eBay after the exhcange. Wendering if anyone has any specific belt part #'s we can use for a 13" SB (all the threads on there were for 9" and 10" I think). Would make it a lot cheaper for me to just go...

    Restoring ways/bed on SB13? & Belt replacements

Thanks. Actually I've never used the machine. I'm doing a "restoration" on it. I will not be taking the headstock casting off, mind you. That's more than I want to do and am just a hobbyist that might use this machine once a month.

    Restoring ways/bed on SB13? & Belt replacements

Hi guys, I noticed in Brad Jacob's restoration thread of SB13, he managed to get the ways looking brand new again...not sure how he did it. Don't think he had the machine ground, but I could be wrong, didn't read every post in his thread. Anyone have any tips for restoring mine? Mine is in good...

    Sealed SB13 spindle thrust bearings

Hi guys, I saw somewhere (maybe a built thread, or YouTube restoration video), someone had spindle thrust bearings with seals on them (red). Anyone know where we can buy those? Thanks EDIT: I'm seeing now that it might not have been sealed, but rather just the bearing cage that was red itself.

Your favorite machine paint in Canada...

Also, I contacted my local Sherwin Williams store, and they don't sell the oil based version of All Surface Enamel here in Canada...said it was phased out years ago. Only water based now...:mad5:

All Surface Enamel latex or oil based? They have two.

Your favorite machine paint in Canada...

Thanks. Too bad we don't have those stores in Quebec. Closest one to me is about an hour away. Mix two part clear into a gallon? I won't be painting the whole thing at once so don't think that will work. Where do you buy that from?

Your favorite machine paint in Canada...

What's your guys go to for paint that will be BRUSHED in Canada? I know a lot of people like Tractor Supply enamel or Rustoleum, but we don't have those here in Canada. All I've seen in stores is Tremclad (a Rustoleum brand), but don't think it's the same quality... I am just doing a brushed...
