Manuals for Maho MH500, Maho MH600, Maho MH800, the conventional machines

Re. Maho manuals & manuals in general Thank you Peter from Holland . . . found some manuals at your link for my Maho MH600. I don't know about strangers doing one another favors, or whether sending files "to another stranger's email address for free" can be counted on, but I've seen it happen...

Removing the ram from an FP1

Thanks, the ram is off the machine now. Brian, thanks for the reply. Your advice, "tilt the whole headstock up on the far side of the machine (opposite the handwheels) and continue to slide it to the rear and off the top of the machine" was what I needed to do to finish removing the ram...

Removing the ram from an FP1

I am removing some of the parts from My FP1, serial number 29243, in order to move it into my basement. The ram is giving me trouble. Do any of you have advice for me to remove it? I followed the directions in the Deckel FP1 Operator's Manual, "Instructions for Lifting Off the Ram." Steps...

Questions re. my new (old) FP1

Rick, thank you for that suggestion. I think there's a good chance you are right: it would explain the peculiar area of roughness inside the spindle if it is the threaded portion used to remove the DeckelDaptor. I just sent a short message to the owner of DeckelDapter to be sure, and to ask...

Questions re. my new (old) FP1

Vert. & hor. spindle noses Here's a small picture of the vertical & horizontal spindle noses on my mill. The vert. nose does look different from the hor. nose. I haven't seen enough FP1s to know what is standard.

Questions re. my new (old) FP1

Peter, thank you for your reply. If mt Deckel has one of those adapters, it is not the one with a threaded end. You observed that the other kind are harder to recognize . . . do you have any suggestions how to tell if I have one, and if I do, how to remove it? Ole, thank you also. That may...

Questions re. my new (old) FP1

I brought my lever-style FP1 home yesterday (serial number 29243), and if the members of this forum could help me answer some questions about it I would be grateful. I apologize in advance for any errors in terminology in describing the parts, and for the length of this post. As you will see...

Request for advice on moving a BP mill

Mike, thanks for the links. They are helpful. Langanbob, if I have to go to that much trouble, maybe I don't want the machine. SWBrooks, would that be for transporting the machine on truck or trailer? If moving it off the trailer and into the shop wouldn't a person want to put the table on...

Request for advice on moving a BP mill

I've been looking for a mill for a while, and found a BP that's only a little more expensive than I had budgeted for a nice horizontal. Mind you my budget had included tooling which now I'll have to start over to pay for . . . I'm worried about getting it into my basement shop. I think I'll...

Want to trade - your mill for my lathe

I have a well-tooled South Bend 10L lathe (Heavy-Ten) that I’d like to trade for a milling machine. The lathe is located in Spokane, Wash. Regarding transportation I think anywhere in Oregon, Washington, Idaho, or western Montana is doable, maybe farther. I'd drive that far to deliver &...
